I am a front-end developer, creative coder and accessibility professional.
My passion is making the web a more interesting place, where more people are included. I'm always learning and I'm always looking for new opportunities to grow.
Hi! I'm Michael Turvey (he/him) and I'm a front-end web developer, creative coder and accessibility professional.
I come from the glorious paradise of Tasmania 🍃 and right now I'm based in Montreal 🍁.
I'm interested in work on short term or long term projects, especially those which improve people's experience of the web.
I've worked on web accessibility and front-end development in the Australian government, and with with various software companies through my work with Intopia. I've run training and written guidance on accessibility for web development, web content and native mobile applications.
I'm a learner and an educator. Before starting my career in web, I worked as a high school teacher. From this career I bring values of meeting people where they are, including everyone, and a love of learning.
I sometimes make independent web projects. These center around the theme "What could be useful to people, and make the web more interesting?" I've gone deep on topics including human colour perception, topological data processing and tenancy law.
Here are some of my projects. I'm always working on new things, so check back soon!
